School Lunch Management

The DCMO BOCES School Lunch Management (SLM) Service provides management and planning oversight to the kitchens of participating districts, including menu planning and nutritional analysis; food and supplies ordering, including USDA commodities; budget development and monitoring; maintaining Free & Reduced benefit records, including verification; filing USDA and NYSED-CNP reports; and being responsible for NYSED program reviews.

SLM staff manage multiple districts and are placed in assigned districts.  While districts continue to employ kitchen staff – cooks, servers, helpers – SLM staff provide day-to-day oversight, including responding to absences and working with district administration on discipline, if necessary.  When needed, SLM staff will put on the apron to ensure that students are served.
