Leisure Education Instructors Wanted!

The DCMO BOCES Leisure Education program is now accepting proposals for short-term workshops.  We are looking for educational experiences that benefit the adult population such as leisure activities, enrichment, fitness, arts, and more.  As an independent provider, you can negotiate the schedule, class size, and content.  We reward your teaching talents with competitive hourly compensation, use of facilities, and promotional services.

DCMO BOCES has state-of-the-art facilities suitable for many industry learning needs.  If your program links students to a career or technical education opportunity, we can facilitate equipment and resources to help you deliver a value-added educational experience.

We are looking for passionate artists, craftspeople, historians, health coaches, and talented instructors.  In the past, our students enjoyed painting projects, wood carving, photography, and theater improvisations.  You have the talent to share and all we need is to hear from you about your ideas for a course.

The first step is to email us your concept.  Just develop a short narrative explaining your course and we will contact you to complete an application and submit references.  Please email your concept page Jennifer Waite, Director of Adult Education.

We welcome your questions.  Don't hesitate to call  (607) 335-1210.

Registration, Cancellation and Refund Policy

Confirmation of Enrollment
Registration is first-come, first-serve and cannot be held without payment.

No News is Good News!
You are officially enrolled when we receive your registration and payment. We do not send written confirmations, but if your course is cancelled, you will be contacted and a full refund will be given. Classes may be subject to cancellation due to low enrollment.

Weather/Cancellations
If classes are cancelled, the notice of cancellations will be broadcast on local radio stations as soon as possible. All cancelled classes will be rescheduled. If daytime DCMO BOCES classes are cancelled, no evening classes will be held.

Age Requirement
Adult Education evening classes are generally offered to adults, 21 years of age or older. Students under the age of 21 can enroll, however a parent must enroll as a paid registrant with the youth. There will be a number of classes open to youth and they will be advertised as such.

Senior Citizen Discount
Senior Citizens 60 years of age or over may attend Adult Education classes at a 10% discounted tuition rate for DCMO BOCES Adult Leisure Learning classes. Any charges for supplies and textbooks must be paid in full by the student.  A 10% discount is also offered to DCMO employees, beginning in February 2018.

Refund Policy
Because DCMO BOCES Adult & Continuing Education evening classes are self-supporting, we count on registration fees to pay the salaries of our instructors. Accordingly, we will be happy to issue a full refund, minus a $10 processing fee, per person, per class, up to five (5) business days prior to the starting date of the class. No refunds will be given for no-shows to one-day classes and no partial refunds will be made, except for Health Occupations Programs. Health Occupations policies are available upon request and can also be found in the individual Health Occupations Course Handbook. If your course is cancelled by DCMO BOCES, a full refund will be given.

Class Cancellation and Notification
Classes will run based on enrollment. If there are not enough people enrolled in a class for the class to run, you should receive notification a week in advance. The instructor will also be notified of the class cancellation. Should the class be cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be refunded your registration fee.
