Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CLT)

A Certified Phlebotomy Technician draws blood from patients or donors in hospitals, blood banks, or similar facilities for analysis or other medical purposes.  This course provides instruction on how to assemble equipment, dispose of containers for needles, test for drug levels in the blood, look for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids, perform complex chemical, biological and microscopic tests, conduct patient interviews, and take vital signs.

Phlebotomy technicians are essential members of the clinical laboratory team. New diagnostic techniques, clinical laboratory technology, and automated instruments have greatly increased the volume of – and demand for – medical laboratory testing performed by phlebotomy technicians. Phlebotomy technician graduates can work in hospitals, physicians’ offices or in independent labs.
